Although principals have long been seen as important to the success of schools, a new set of
working papers from some prominent
education researchers aims to promote a better understanding of the extent to which school leaders matter and why.
Last November, I presented a
paper with much of this information at the Vatican for the 400th anniversary of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences; half of the conference was devoted to analyzing how the mind and brain
work in

The projects will run from January 2017 until January 2018, with the findings expected to be published by the Carnegie School of
