As far as
qualifying for
elite status, flying exclusively on a specific
airline helps your chances of ranking.
While it's true the
airline industry is financially healthier than it has been in years — thanks to cost - cutting and its new pay - as - you - go approach (United
Airlines is even offering passengers who don't
qualify for
elite status the opportunity to pay $ 500 a year for seat upgrades and another $ 350 a year to avoid baggage fees)-- the changes have made flying a truly trying experience that is only likely to get worse.
The downside of using the Chase Sapphire Preferred ® Card over a Southwest branded one is that you will miss out on all the
airline perks the latter comes with — including things like free checked baggage, and
elite qualifying miles.

The Mileage Plan on Alaska
Airlines has an
elite qualifying program called «Most Valued Passenger» or MVP.
For every American
Airlines flight that you take, you earn your
elite qualifying miles.
Each level of American
Airlines elite status qualification requires an EQD (
Elite Qualifying Dollars) level of spending with the
airline in addition to
Elite Qualifying Miles / Segment qualifications (EQM / EQS).
EDQ requirements mean that you must spend a certain amount of money with the
airline in addition to flying a certain number of miles or segments to
qualify for
elite status.
Using your
airline credit card to shop online can rack up miles, including
elite qualifying miles, but you can get even more by connecting to shops via the
airline's website.
However, SPG Flights redemptions do have the added advantage of earning
elite qualifying and redeemable miles on most
airlines.
While having a foreign address on your American
Airlines AAdvantage account makes little or no difference, with United (and Delta) it means that you don't have to meet the minimum
qualifying spend criteria for
elite status.
If your goal is to
qualify for
elite status, you have to fly at least 25,000 miles a year on one
airline or have a credit card make up the difference in
elite qualifying miles.

qualify as American Purchases are car rentals, hotel reservations, American
Airlines Vacations packages, purchase of
elite status boost or renewal and American
Airlines CargoSM products and services.
Currently, members can earn
elite qualifying miles on Aeromexico, Air France, American
Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, KLM, and LAN.
The
airline sent out an emailed titled, «Your loyalty accounts are combined, in which the
airline lists important information like your
elite status and expiration date, your combined mileage balance, your Million Miler balance, and 2015 year - to - date
elite -
qualifying miles, points and segments.
Now that we're in 2014, United
Airlines has slightly updated its website to begin tracking Premier
Qualifying Dollars (PQDs)-- a new requirement for
elite status.
Don't forget that Qatar Airways is a member of the oneworld alliance so if you have status on the likes of British Airways or American
Airlines it will serve you well on these flights and you'll earn a LOT of Avios, tier points, miles,
elite qualifying miles and
elite qualifying dollars if you book these fares.

Airlines Milage Plan members, flying on British Airways but crediting their travel to Alaska's Milage Plan, earned miles and

American
Airlines, a member of the Oneworld Alliance, has announced that AAdvantage members will earn double
elite qualifying miles for all American, AmericanEagle, and AmericanConnection flights between December 14, 2011 and January 31, 2012.
To apologize for operations issues in recent months, American
Airlines is extending double
elite qualifying miles to all of its AAdvantage members through the end of the year (December 31).
It caters to the luxury traveler with World
Elite MasterCard travel benefits, priority boarding, free checked bag and the ability to earn
elite qualifying dollars on American

elite qualifying miles accrual and, if you take a look at the wording on the relevant American
Airlines webpage, you'll see a subtle difference to to the paragraph I quoted above relating to Malaysia

In order to attain the upgraded status, you will need to fly on American, US Airways and other select
