Comprised of approximately twenty objects, and made possible with the cooperation of the LeWitt
Estate, this is the first
gallery exhibition to focus solely on the artist's investigations with
photography.
Showing a number of contemporary artists, as well as representing several
estates of historically significant artists, the
gallery confronts the canonical dialogue between modern and contemporary art through exhibitions that feature artists working in multiple disciplines including painting,
photography and sculpture.

Just as the nearly 700 photographs from Muybridge's groundbreaking publication Animal Locomotion, acquired by the Corcoran

photography, the Key Set of more than 1,600 works by Stieglitz, donated by Georgia O'Keeffe and the Alfred Stieglitz
Estate, launched the
photography collection at the National
Gallery of Art in 1949.
