I very rarely use my Amex
EveryDay card so I've never really paid much attention to the 20 % bonus (Membership Rewards points) you can get for making 20 transactions on the card in a single billing cycle... but this month I'm going to hit that target and it's got me thinking.
For a while Amex was offering a free year of Amazon Prime as a Platinum signup bonus, but now that bonus is on the Amex
Everyday cards so it would appear they decided no one with actual money to spend wants Amazon Prime.

But then American Express leapfrogged ahead of Chase by introducing their
Everyday cards, which maintain the ability to transfer points to travel partners but do
so with no annual fee (at least for the basic
card).
Ultimately banks and their co-brand partners want their credit
card to be in your wallet all the time
so you'll be more likely to use it for
everyday purchases.
Amex is offering some increased bonuses for a few of their
cards lately and they're doing
so for the Amex Blue Cash
Everyday card as well.
