A few years ago, I was skimming through the our department's well - worn photocopy of the catalogue for California Design 6, the 1960 installment in the Pasadena Art Museum's influential exhibition series.

Included in this catalogue are full - colour reproductions of works in the exhibition, as well as an interview with the artist by Franklin Sirmans, Terri and Michael Smooke Department Head and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and an essay by Lowery Stokes Sims, Curator Emerita at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York.

The exhibition is curated by master's degree candidates in the History of Art and Design department: Sophie Buonomo, Ali Clark, Elizabeth Meyer, Janine Sleem, and Clara Wanatirta.

Opening: «Partners in Design: Alfred H. Barr and Philip Johnson» at Grey Art Gallery This exhibition celebrates the fruitful partnership between the Museum of Modern Art's first director, Alfred H. Barr, and the architect Philip Johnson, who founded the museum's architecture department.

Other museums depend primarily on guest designers, but Mr. Johnson said that the Fine Arts Museums had too many exhibitions to operate without an in - house design department.

Organized by the SFMOMA Architecture and Design department, the exhibition includes an immersive site - specific cloudscape installation of suspended tension structures and floating sculptures, as well as explorations of the intricate constructions of spider webs.

Representing all curatorial departments of the museum, the exhibition is curated by Jenny Gheith, assistant curator of painting and sculpture, and Janet Bishop, curator of painting and sculpture; with Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, assistant curator and acting department head of architecture and design; Rudolf Frieling, curator of media arts; and Corey Keller, curator of photography.

The Godine Family Gallery is a student - run exhibition and project space in the Studio for Interrelated Media Department at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

The exhibition is curated by Alexandra Sachs, executive director of SCAD FASH and Atlanta exhibitions and guest curator Susan A.
