FAA) announced today that it will delay the closures of all 149 federal contract
air traffic control towers until June 15.
The
FAA, which operates a network of airport
towers,
air route
traffic control centers, and flight service stations, develops
air traffic rules, allocates the use of airspace, and provides for the security
control of
air traffic to meet national defense requirements.
Construction workers, engineers and planners were told not to come to worksites across the country after the
FAA was forced to issue stop work orders on projects ranging from the construction of new
air traffic control towers to the rehabilitation and modernization of
air traffic facilities.
In an effort to provide a cost - effective alternative to constructing traditional brick - and - mortar
