authors than any other social media platform.
That's why you see
authors on certain
FB sites asking for «friends» to go on Amazon and tag the low starred reviews as unhelpful to push them down.
For all the reasons I just mentioned,
FB appeals to both younger and older
authors (unlike social media platforms like Twitter, which are more skewed toward a younger audience).
Some
authors have used
FB ads to increase their mailing lists, but for actual book sales, I haven't seen anyone who can analyze this.
But Catherine Ryan Hyde, one of the top 25 Amazon
authors according to her
FB page today, doesn't use a newsletter.

Author FB Group I often post snippets on new options opening up to us indies.
Do you recommend an
author - identity Facebook page (not an
FB page devoted to a particular book, just your
author persona in general) that's separate and unique from your personal Facebook page?
And the flattering contact, like the one entered on the
FB page (see link)- that
author was saved only by the fact he couldn't afford it.
One of my biggest issues as an
author when it comes to social media is posting consistently on my
FB page, more accurately posting relevant and interesting things consistently on my
FB page.
Eventually, I took on the pseudonym of D.B. Moone and created an
author's page on
FB, which I ultimately shut down and began using my personal
FB page as a dual purpose page (big mistake, I know).
When I taught high school English, many of the books I discovered were by
authors that directly pitched «shared» their most recent books on teacher
FB groups and blogs.
After all, my original Facebook was created before
FB had some of the tools to help
authors create pages.

Readers can engage with the
author on book discussions and post the discussions on their
FB, twitter, etc. and get their friends involved!
I'm a big fan of giveaways for listbuilding, especially if you don't have an
author platform yet and are having trouble getting enough book reviews — but setting up a giveaway isn't enough, you also need to promote it with
FB ads to your target audience.
This sucks as I follow my favorite
authors on
fb and twitter to find out when their next book is coming out.
As a blogger, many reviews are pulled if the amazon accts are hooked to the
fb acct and the reviewer follows the
author's page.

You are still expected, as the
author, to actively promote via
FB, Twitter, blogs, your upcoming new release.
I don't use
FB to get subscribers, though we've certainly had
authors on (and Mark Dawson himself) who have sworn by this (yes, by offering a book or books to get a signup).
I'm trying things that other
authors do: book blog, platform,
FB & twitter, trailer.
Scheduled tweet blasts about an upcoming title from an
author, blogs and
fb posts all help get the word out.
I am not sure how to market myself as the
author of both one
FB page.
I know people like Rachel often suggest linking pages together but I don't like that because my posts for
FB are more laid back than my tweets, even on my
author page.

One fairly well - known
author was bemoaning the dispute on
FB yesterday and beating on Amazon for stealing money from her by taking away the pre-order buttons.
Creativity is creativity and if you look at marketing and promoting your books as part of the whole creative process — rather than look to what other
authors have done and try to imitate that for success (i.e. giveaways,
FB ads, book marks and imprinted mugs)-- you are sure to find the perfect formula for success that works for you and your book.
I want to add what I learned from fellow
authors recently: one can boost
FB posts to drive people to sign to their email list.
I've heard some
authors get results from
FB, some for Twitter, but all sing the praises of the mailing list and the importance of keywords.

Better yet, get a group of
authors in your genre together to
FB and tweet each others» posts to their followings.
Obviously, you're not a bot, but having friends and posts on your
author profile would have helped make it look more authentic to
FB.
