Longitudinal
analyses were conducted by using data from sexually active adolescents who participated in the first 2 years of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) to address two sets of main research questions: First, do differing
levels of relationship quality (a) within the family — peer mesosystem and (b) among different
facets of the parent — child relationship interact in their patterns of association with sexual risk behavior?
