The transition to aquaculture, where
fish are raised in confined quarters (like the «
factory farming» of pigs, cows and chickens) has its own environmental burdens.

That's why I try to not support the
factory farm industry as much as possible (which is most meats and dairy in your supermarket) and instead, I try to eat almost solely grass - fed meats from free ranging animals, wild game, wild
fish, eggs from local farmers from free roaming hens, and dairy only from grass - fed cows that are allowed to graze almost entirely on forage.

fish oil and other animal fats are good for you, when fed the foods they eat in the wild, not

farmed, and eaten in moderation.
Aside from the obvious problem of defining what our ancestors evolved to eat in light of the diversity of their diets, most paleo - diet fans miss the obvious fact that humans definitely did not evolve to eat the meats of today (even if grass - fed and free - range, although that IS healthier than
factory -
farmed) or the
fish swimming in our polluted seas.
Furthermore, these crops are, many times, used as animal feed for
farm - raised
fish and
factory farmed meats and dairy.

factory, cheese factroy, olive
farm, world famous «Simmos» ice cream the «Swan» dive wreck and so much more.....
Chickens are now eating more
fish than albatross and puffins, because we're feeding the
fish to them in
factory farms.

factory farming, when industrial producers have to bear the costs of all the negative externalities associated with industrial
fishing, and those costs get passed along to consumers, sustainability will became a much more attractive and practical philosophy by which seafood is produced and consumed.
