Late boost to winter crop production
Favourable seasonal conditions in spring and early summer have resulted in the 2017 — 18 winter crop harvest exceeding expectations in some key growing regions of Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia.
Following an increase in wheat production in 1998/99 of nearly 9 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics expects to see a further rise in 1999/2000 of around 4 per cent, reflecting an increase in the area planted and
favourable seasonal conditions.
