The scientists were formally recognized for their achievements and acknowledged as representatives of the
fellowship's goals to boost representation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at an
awards ceremony at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., where the winners celebrated with other women in science and their supporters.
The
fellowship award, which the Duke will present, is
awarded annually at the
ceremony and is the highest accolade bestowed by the academy to an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, television or games.
