festival's
opening night gala Thursday is Dee Rees» «Mudbound,» a sprawling study of racism in post-World War II Mississippi starring Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Mitchell, Jason Clarke, Mary J. Blige and Rob Morgan.
