We've found that it the
Bank of America Travel
rewards credit card is one of the
few to not charge a foreign transaction fee in conjunction with no annual fees.
They also offer free checking, have free paper checks, and offer a cash
rewards debit card which is very rare and none of the other
banks listed offer on a regular basis (I've seen ING's Electric Orange checking with promotional cash back
rewards a
few times but not as a standard).
Reward checking accounts, often offered at small
banks or credit unions, are checking accounts that pay high interest rates, much higher than what you could get from a high - yield savings account, but with a
few strings attached.
The Free
Rewards Checking account offers an exceptionally high annual percentage yield of at least 3.09 % for balances of up to $ 10,000, as long as you're able to meet a
few spending and online
banking requirements.
Bank travel cards A
few major credit card issuers have their own
reward programs that allow you to book flights on their portal or to transfer points to a variety of airlines.
There are quite a
few cards offered by other
banks that are competitive with the Premier
Rewards Dining card, including the Discover it Cashback card, the AARP card and Chase Freedom.
«Points» in this case mean hotel or
bank points like Starpoints, ThankYou points, and Ultimate
Rewards points, that can be used with
fewer limitations than traditional airline miles.
US
Bank does offer quite a
few travel
rewards credit cards like their Flexperks
rewards program, and they offer
few random (but useful!)
Citi, regional

few years ago, though, MBNA was sold to
Bank of America and the
reward level fell to 2 percent.
Let's take a look at a
few other no - fee travel cards from other
banks, including the Priceline
Rewards Visa from Barclaycard, the Expedia + card from Citi and the FlexPerks Travel
Rewards Visa Signature from U.S.
Bank.
You might also recall the hand - wringing from a
few years ago, when Citi mailed some customers 1099 forms listing «miscellaneous income» they received in the form of
reward points for opening a
bank account.
Few people will actually switch
banks just for the
rewards on a debit card.
Although not a
rewards card, the Chase Slate is at the top of many a list of good balance transfer cards, both because of its extensive introductory 0 % APR offer, but also because it's one of the
few cards from major
banks with no balance transfer fee.
The Fidelity
Rewards card offers cash back at a high 2 percent rate, but — if you're not inclined to open a Fidelity
bank account to get the card — you may be better off searching for a cash back card with
fewer restrictions or even a travel card with flexible points.
I've received a
few pings asking for my thoughts on the US
Bank FlexPerks
Rewards card, and I'm happy to say that it seems much more appealing than I first though.
That's what happened a
few years ago, when new regulations made debit card transactions less profitable for
banks, and they scaled back
rewards programs as a result.
Perhaps
few airlines followed Delta's lead with points that never expire, but when it comes to
banks, Chase and American Express points don't expire as long as you keep any sort of card open in their
rewards system.
Bank of America ® Travel
Rewards Credit Card cardholders also have access to many of perks traditional
Bank of America customers receive: Shop safe ®, overdraft protection, access to
Bank of America financial centers and ATMS to name a
few.
This Velocity
banking is more like one of those credit card hacking people where they have a slightly better
rewards package on their credit card, sure they make a
few bucks more, but the effort and time it takes to do it is not worth it to some people.
