The presidents welcomed: (i) a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to the China Power Engineering and Consulting Group Corporation to support a feasibility study for an integrated gasification combined cycle (I.G.C.C.) power plant in China using American technology, (ii) an agreement by Missouri - based Peabody Energy to invest and
participate in GreenGen, a project of several major Chinese energy
companies to develop a near - zero emissions coal -
fired power plant, (iii) an agreement between G.E. and Shenhua Corporation to collaborate on the development and deployment of I.G.C.C. and other clean coal technologies; and (iv) an agreement between AES and Songzao Coal and Electric
Company to use methane captured from a coal mine in Chongqing, China, to generate electricity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The
company was formed by Pete and Catherine Delantar, who
participated in a community project that cleaned up litter from the local forests, which helped prevent forest
fires.
The
companies participating have combined annual emissions of at least 476 million tonnes CO2 — equivalent to the annual emissions of South Africa or 125 coal -
fired power plants.
So looking at this positively, the
company could encourage employees to
participate in
fire drills, first aid courses etc. etc. in their own spare time by promising to pay their expenses and the minimum wage for the time spent.
As Rees Morrison warns in this post, 34 percent of 407
companies participating in an Inside Counsel Survey indicated that they had
fired, or planned to
fire, one of their law firms in 2006.
A homeowner's insurance plan doesn't provide payout when a person intentionally sets their house on
fire, so why would a travel insurance
company be expected to cover a person who intentionally
participates in activities that are known to be dangerous?
