I think it's a
food blog
rule that you have to
post «pumpkin something» the first week of fall.
So instead of the usual meal plan
post, I decided to share with you guys a few of my
food rules.
I hope I'm not exhausting you with
posts about the new school meal regulations, but these
rules impact the diets of millions of American children every day and seem worthy of in - depth discussion on any blog devoted to «kids and
food.»

A study discussed in the Washington
Post (and many other news outlets) found an inverse correlation between children's fast
food consumption and their test scores, even when factors like socioeconomic status were
ruled out.
In a follow - up Civil Eats
post in February, I told you how new proposed USDA
rules would give daycare
food its first major overhaul since the Johnson administration, but that the
rules still have some glaring deficiencies.
NYC agreed to postpone enforcement of a
rule requiring restaurants, convenience stores and other establishments to
post calorie counts for prepared
food — a move in response to an industry lawsuit that was supported by the federal government.
Large chain restaurants and fast -
food eateries in New York City can be fined up to $ 600 beginning next week for not
posting salt warnings on menu items that contain more than the recommended daily dose of sodium, a judge
ruled.
I've also written

rules» French children and adults follow when it comes to eating (for example sitting down for meals, not snacking, eating whole
foods), which have been popular.
This is a huge topic and I can not begin to cover it in a single blog
post, but as a general
rule nutrient dense
foods tend to be one ingredient natural unprocessed
foods as opposed to processed
foods which often have a huge caloric content from added sugars, or are so highly processed there is very little actual nutrient content left.
I am just clarifying that long term dietary changes do alter the microbiome (see the
post, OPTIMAL MICROBIOME DIET FROM AMERICAN GUT DATA is a start to understanding this) and the gut microbiome does
rule beyond the gut walls, systemically, (see the
post, THE SCIENCE BEHIND
FOOD, DISEASE, MICROBIOME, and affects the blood brain barrier as discussed below.
