I'm now a Kenny Wormald fan and can say, having seen it myself, that Craig Brewer's
Footloose does live up to the original.
Like the rest of today's video - happy teen - age entertainments, Footloose doesn't expect to be watched closely or taken seriously.

If the pilfering of «80s films must continue (though ideally, it will stop, soon), the other studios could learn a thing or two from what Paramount
did here with «
Footloose.»
But this
Footloose remake is pretty well
done, with clever nods to the original alongside subtle improvements.
The world didn't need a remake of
Footloose, the 1984 movie where outsider - rebel Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon) takes on a town - wide ban against public dancing.
If you're looking for a silly southern romp with watered - down Red versus Blue state subtext, the new
Footloose will
do ya fine.
Nothing in
Footloose comes close, in this respect, to the best moments of Brewer's previous, vibrant if uneven films Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan, but this heartfelt retread of a notably thin popcorn property
does come alive during an illicit dance - off at a drive - in or when a line dance devolves into sweaty gyrations — basically, when the teenagers are fulfilling the grown - ups» worst fears.
Footloose joins a new wave of 1980s remakes that are, on the whole, quite presumptuous — supposed «classics» reworked for a new generation that might not want anything to
do with them.
He also talks about the changes he made to the project when he signed on by saying, «The project that they wanted to
do was like a big dance celebration of
Footloose.
Lastly there is a video from Emily Whitcomb
doing a
Footloose - inspired Rap.
I could
do that for Taps and Sean Penn, but
Footloose wasn't made to make a point as much as to entertain.
Those are the best compliments I can give to Craig Brewer's
Footloose, and I think he
did a great job explaining his new take.
When they released the trailer for the new
Footloose remake, it didn't seem to impress many people.
