A treatise on the
law of sale of personal property: with references to the American decisions and to the

We offer expertise in both common
law and
civil law in English and
French.
Much of the ECC is based upon the
French Civil Code and, to a lesser extent, upon various other European codes and upon Islamic (Shariah)
law, especially in the context of personal status.
The
law society had the equivalent of a
civil service to provide the necessary expertise and the capacity for long - term development — Ryerson University, and the University of Ottawa (for the
French language counterpart).
Slaw carried a post during the summer about jurisprudential solitudes — a gap in knowledge between Quebec's
civil code - based and predominantly
French - language legal resources and those in common -
law, English - speaking Canada.
I wonder whether
law faculties in other provinces might find interest in teaching
civil law — and
French along with it.

Law Practice Program; Ryerson - the English language version; Ottawa - the
French language version.
The problem in much of the legislation addressed by Bill S - 12 is that only
civil law terminology («immeuble») is used in the
French version and only common
law terminology («real property») is used in the English version.
These will be drawn from both common
law and
civil law jurisdictions and will be able to conduct arbitrations in a number of languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese,
French, German and Italian.

law is not the same as a délit in
civil law, or a delict, for that matter (since there is good English for
civil law — as spoken in Scotland, Louisiana and other anglophone
civil law jurisdictions.

French and English, provides access to a surprisingly wide range of professional, full - text legal commentary (doctrine, in
French), as well as annotated legislation (including an annotated
Civil Code) and an extremely useful list of Research Questions, arranged topically by field of
law, with links to legislative and interpretive sources available on the site.
Scottish
civil law calls real property «heritable property», and in
French - based
law, it is called immobilier («immovable property»).
