A list of some of the pesky little words that my students are getting stuck on in when preparing for the
reading and listening
French exams.
The exercises include: vocabulary match - ups; grammar exercises; a listening comprehension with different tasks; several
reading comprehensions with different types of exercises to complete; translations into English and into
French; photo stimuli for written tasks; blog writing tasks (foundation and higher); four role - play cards (foundation and higher); five photo cards for speaking activities and finally a whole range of questions related to the general conversation section of the speaking
exam.

Having studied many years» worth of listening and
reading exams in
French and Spanish, it was apparent that common language kept appearing.
For each topic there are translation exercises both into English, as on the
Reading Exams and into
French, as the Writing
Exams.
For each of these subtopics, there are 6 activities: a
reading task, translation (short paragraph) from
French into English, sentences to translate from English into
French, a writing task (short passage similar to the foundation writing
exam), a photo (like in the foundation writing
exam) and a role - play.

For example, the QCA noted that there was significantly less prescribed
reading for English in the IGCSE, no speaking test for
French, and no non-calculator
exam in maths.
It's a relatively traditional program, requiring students to pass a comprehensive
exam (that means learning the details and significance of 300 + works of art from around the world, still weighted towards major Western works of art from antiquity through the contemporary period) and passing a
reading exam in a second language (German, Italian, Spanish, or
French).
