I just replaced
the fuel pump relay on my 2000 Buick LeSabre and it still won't turn over.
The issue is
the fuel pump relay on your fuel system.
Not exact matches
The
fuel pump relay is
on the fascia fuse box, behind the glove box.
@Ingrid... you'd need to check fuses /
relays to ensure the
fuel pump is running (or can you hear the
fuel pump kick in when you turn the vehicle to «
on»?).
I can only guess that there had been problems with the power to the
fuel pump, which my checking of the fuses and
relays had fixed, but that the pressure in the
fuel line had gone down to an extent where it needed more time with the
pump on to get back to a level that could start the car.
Perhaps the
fuel pump was the problem all along, was already
on its last legs and just happened to die right as I was swapping out the
relays (seems awfully coincidental...)?
Independent of the starter motor, the
fuel pump relay should also «click» when the key in the ignition is turned to the «
On» position:
Perhaps the aftermarket
fuel pump relay is not a good match and doesn't work well (I've got a used OEM
on the way now).
Is engine management triggering the
fuel pump relay to turn
on the
pump?
Hi there - the
fuel pump relay is under the hood, at the rear of the engine compartment, fairly high up
on the firewall.
If the engine is stalling or not starting, or the
fuel pump is not making any noise when the key is
on, you may need to replace the
fuel pump relay.
If you can't hear the
fuel pump running with the key in the «
On» or «Start» position, check the
fuel pump fuses, then check the
fuel pump relay...
