Submissions for the event are open at the official IGF Mobile website through Friday, October 26, and winners of the event will be recognized with multiple prizes at the IGF Mobile ceremony, taking place during
the GDC Mobile event at Game Developers Conference on February 19, 2008.

GDC, Bandai Namco held a special
event to reveal some of the bigger
mobile titles they'll be releasing this year in the US.

This sister
event to the IGF itself will have its own IGF
Mobile Pavilion featuring the finalists, positioned next to the IGF Pavilion at Game Developers Conference 2008 next February, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony during
GDC Mobile (and again honored during the main IGF Awards on the Wednesday night).
The
event (organized by the CMP GameGroup, as is Gamasutra) has seen a host of notable independent Java, Nintendo DS and Windows
Mobile games entering the contest - for which almost $ 20,000 prizes will be given out at
GDC 2008 next February.
In addition, the winners of the category will be revealed onstage at the special IGF
Mobile awards ceremony at
GDC 2009, and also highlighted at the flagship Independent Games Festival Awards
event at the show.
Probably the least reported - on
event by the media at this year's Game Developer's Conference was the «Gangs Of
GDC» real - life game, created by NY game developer Gamelab (Diner Dash, Arcadia), and described by them as «the world's first... massively multiplayer
mobile phone fighting game or MMMPFG» - so we got them to write a postmortem of it for Gamasutra.
Like last year, we will have exhibits at both the industry - only Game Developer Conference's
mobile apps show (
GDC: Next) and the hybrid gaming / comics / culture public
event Comikaze.
This year's
GDC Summit line - up includes two new
events in the form of the Social & Online Games Summit and iPhone Games Summit, alongside the
GDC Mobile / Handheld, Independent Games, and Serious Games Summits, which are all accepting submissions through November 13th.
