I haven't found one true good airy moist bread
gf recipe on any other site or book.
Not exact matches
We aren't vegan or
GF but I can use your
recipes and add my poultry or fish to it, or make a poultry or fish dish but dress it up with lots of veg
on the side.
The
recipe is incredibly versatile - it is vegan as written, you can use
GF pasta if that is a consideration, and there is very little added oil, if you're keeping an eye
on that.
i'd suggest just looking for a brownie
recipe that doesn't rely too heavily
on flour, picking up any old bag of all purpose
GF flour, and substituting it straight across.

I understand where you are coming from, and I think gluten free cookbooks can be marketed to different
GF audiences — the gluten free crowd is large enough that there is room for different types of
GF books, and so I see a place for both books that do include naturally
GF recipes (which I might call a
GF lifestyle cookbook for an all around book with a variety of types of
GF foods), and books whose purpose would be to focus
on the more technical
recipes of replacing gluten.
It all started with a discussion
on the merit of naturally gluten free
recipes — by naturally gluten free, I mean
recipes that never required any alterations in the first place for a
GF person to be able to enjoy them.
Then, if you have a
GF recipe to share that freezes well, come
on back and join in
on the fun!
For those who relied
on processed foods before going
GF, naturally
GF recipes opens up the world, if they let it.
I absolutely agree that naturally
GF foods are important in books and
on blogs — as you said, they are often cheaper and sometimes in our zeal to convert
recipes, we forget the basics.
on my «must try these
recipes» list: one, two, three, four... MUST find a way to make this beauty with
gf crust.
It meant I could look up
recipes and create my own version like I usually did with everything I cooked, rather than having to say a prayer to the gluten free gods that my baked good would work out, let alone trying to figure out the cost of all the
GF flours
on our then grad student budgets.
And I also understand the frustration of seeing those who are not well versed in gluten free sticking a
GF tag
on a
recipe to capitalize
on what they see as a growing fad (note —
GF is not a fad for the many like my husband who must be
GF the rest of their lives, but I'm not going to get into that today).
Having cookbooks that offer any
GF recipes are wonderful, I think, especially for people who are just starting out
on a
GF diet.
I always feel like I need to jump
on that train and create
GF recipes because that's what people want.
Thank you so much for all your hard work, my family surely do appreciate it and the sharing of your
recipes here... it has been a real life saver for us
on this new journey of
GF life.
I cook all of T - day dinner to be
gf, including your
recipe for Ritz crackers, for the crumbs
on our creamed onions!
It can definitely be tricky
on the
GF front because a lot of
recipes end up chalky or just odd..

on the grill, so I use that when I want grilled pizza, but my FAVORITE is your deep dish version.

I make a
GF muesli, the
recipe is
on my blog.
I know my
recipes focus quite heavily
on using gluten free oats (clues in the name), but there are a small percentage of people diagnosed with Coeliac Disease that may still be sensitive to certified
GF oats, and therefore can't eat them.
Free for All Cooking, my most recent
GF Cookbook, has a
recipe for a flour blend that offers many different options for each ingredient, in case you don't have one
on hand or can not use a particular ingredient.

PS In most other
GF / dairy - free
recipes, I have excellent success substituting tapioca starch or arrowroot powder for potato starch (depending
on the balance of other ingredients), but I'm stumped when it comes to potato flour.

on the flours used — Rice, potato and maize are quite starchy and have calorie / sugar content than regular flours like whole wheat and oat flour.
