Society of Canada's Expert Panel on the Future of
Libraries and Archives in Canada, and is also a former Governor
General's Award nominee for Children's Literature.

libraries are funded in a variety of ways depending on the province; but as a
general rule, funds are provided by the provincial law
society and law foundation.
Our justice departments, attorneys
general, law
societies and bar associations must not overlook the potential of courthouse
libraries as the space where their access to justice initiatives connect with the public, with the courthouse librarians acting as the trained ambassadors.
Last year I made my views known to the Law
Society of Upper Canada, the Law Foundation of Ontario, which donates funds to the law
libraries in Ontario as well as the Minister of the Attorney
General about being denied access to the John Sopinka Law Library at the Hamilton Court House for wanting to do my own legal research.
