History and Facts: Originally
bred as a smaller version of the Standard and

breeds: Afghan, airedale, boxer, briard, chow chow, dalmatian, doberman, greyhound, German shepherd, husky, Labrador, pointers, retrievers, setters, springers, Weimaraner, mastiff, clumber spaniel,
giant schnauzer, Great Dane, Newfoundland, ridgeback, rottweiler and similarly sized dogs.
The shelter she came from called her an Airedale mix; most dog people visually peg her as a badly
bred Giant Schnauzer.
His sound and reliable temperament, rugged build, and dense weather - resistant wiry coat make the
giant schnauzer one of the most useful and enduring working
