Giroud get in the box and knock the ball down for runners.

Do nt
get me wrong I rate
Giroud, he has his moment but he can not turn and shoot, dribble or beat a defender, only scores
in the six yard
box from a one touch flick or tap -
in.
It is games like this
in which the talents of
Giroud can be most useful, as we can use the width of the pitch and
get balls
in the
box to exploit his size and power
in the air, while his strength and ability as a target man to hold the ball up and bring other players around him into the game is a huge weapon.
obviously I would prefer to have a much more suitable alternative
in the defensive midfielder positions but if they focused more on defensive end and the occasional long - ball, this would allow Bellerin and Sead ample opportunities to bomb forward on their respective wings while still having enough cover to maintain their defensive shape... it would likewise allow for overlapping runs on both wings, thereby letting both Sanchez and Perez to cut inside and
get shots away
in and around the top of the
box with their most dominant feet... if goals were needed I would sub Bellerin for OX and bring Ramsey
in for Elneny then switch to a 3 -2-4-1 (more of a 3 -1-5-1 with Ramsey playing higher up the pitch) and I would only use
Giroud as a sub when the game dictated it for tactical reasons... this would allow us to be a high energy team with incredible link - up play and a much more direct approach
in the offensive end
Exactly, the ones who don't look like they have the weak mentality
get sided out for no reason, Sanchez was scoring for fun when he was free to play
in the centre and the wings, but he was outshining
Giroud so the manager restricted him, Ramsey was scoring for fun when he was allowed to shoot outside the
box and had players supporting him at the back but now the manager tells him to play Cazorla role instead, when Ox was new he was dribbling past City defenders for fun but then he was benched for Walcott who can't even dribble past one defender, now we have Campbell who always impresses on the pitch but the manager benches him for a player with no confidence.
I know there's no wingers
in this team but I believe theo can do well with a partner through the middle, Ox's future is at CM / CAM so he can still be an influence off the bench
in this system, Podolski is a CF so he would flourish playing off a partner like
Giroud or Sanchez as St, Ozil also playing as CAM which we all want, he's
got guys behind him who'll make runs into the
box and also pacey strikers upfront to pick a perfect pass which he does best
Why bring Oxlade - Chamberlain on to
get the ball into the
box more, but take
Giroud off so there's no one to recieve it and put it
in the goal?
All this silly little passing, no one
getting in the
box,
giroud playing out wide for most of the game!
Giroud hadn't had too many opportunities come his way during the match, but he made it count when fellow sub, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain
got the ball
in the
box from a cross
in the late stages of the game.
Even when
Giroud got the ball out wide Ozil was the only arriver
in the
box — and he was late
getting there.
They bring different qualities, much like alexis vs
Giroud at striker... Ospina is much better at reflex saves and probably does nt
get beaten from range as much as Cech does, however Cech is much more commanding
in the
box when it comes to crosses and corners which is vital
in the physical premier league, thus its all about what you are looking for
in your keeper.
Ramsay crosses was awful, but i think his overall play as improved, he was
getting in the
box and probably would have had a goal if
giroud was not
in the way
I would have actually pick

giroud physical presence for defensive presence
in our

That man Sanchez was
in the right place as usual after Ozil was tackled
in the
box to put us
in front, and Olivier
Giroud followed up after he had replaced a lacklustre Theo Walcott, and at last Ramsey
got his first League goal at the 30th attempt this season!
Also
Giroud's goal; though Monreal
got the assist, credit has to go to Lacazette also for setting up monreal and also
getting himself into the
box to give defenders one more person to mark thereby making sure
Giroud has just one defender to beat for a tap
in.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense
in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes
in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess
in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to
get himself
in trouble when he
gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required
in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when
Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling
in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did
get a bit better during some points
in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis
in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself
in and around the
box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him
in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive
in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players
in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially
Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence
in Real or the space and protection he receives
in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived
in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components...
in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them
in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion
in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin
in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation...
in Sanchez, we
get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often
in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and
in many ways most crucially,
Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place
in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
they had at least one ligitamate goal, they are 17 pts ahead of us, they are better,
giroud does not belong on the same pitch as kane, he has been a 5 yr joke, we always talk about
getting a world class center forward, we never do, gabriel is a disaster
in the
box, lets face it, we are a 6th place team...
Roll that chance across the
box to any of Rooney's peers at the Premier League's other top clubs, to Sergio Aguero or Diego Costa or even the sentient mass of hair gel and self regard that is Olivier
Giroud, and Kyle Walker doesn't
get a look
in.
higuian / reus / mandzukic were all available & are better than
giroud, reus maybe a winger but he
gets in the
box & Is a great finisher fact is wenger is outdated Back
in 98 most hadn't a clue who was playing for under 17's 18's or 21's They do now These secret rough diamonds aren't out there now There's no more Anelka's for # 500k, there's no more Kolo Toure's for # 150k or henry / viera etc Football has moved on, every club knows every young player now
if you watch arsenal place I see so much space and no runs no runs at all only when
in the
box if you watch Leicester they are always makeing runs all over the place that's how you score goals against a team like Southampton they controlled the game it was not unlucky just like chelsea can do control the game and won arsenal players don't believe they can win the title the players
in that team play without heart you know why because Im sure wenger tells them becareful we don't need anymore Injurys what kind of mentality is that also I will pick out Ramsey he is playing like a player who is leaveing the club he and flamini just don't work Ramsey is not playing good at all wenger can blame make excuses but truth is he is the manager he make the tactics and he
gets it wrong all the time
giroud has no pace none bench him against some teams and play pure pace make runs ox Walcott but they don't Walcott has lost it his pace has gone its clear or he fears I jury how if a player is fit put your all
in forget injury if you
get Injured then so be it but if your fit and your Walcott run put yourself about wenger should leave because he.
Giroud kept trying and I like the way Theo told him
get in the
box more to be more effect... which lead to him
getting an assist.
Sure che defended brilliantly especially back four but that means our main striker plus outside forwards should have been more intelligent maybe
Giroud should have come back towards midfielders with Sanchez and Ramsey running on ahead... Sanchez Ramsey just werent
in box nearly enough times especially first half and
Giroud should have realised pretty quickly he wasnt going to
get joy
in between two cbs.
than Ozil when both are inform and is Ramsey not a better
box to
box player than Cazorla when both are inform and do not even deny even if you have your own opinion. Why not put Cazorla
in Ozil's position and put Ramsey
in the
box to
box position where he plays best. Can you imagine
Giroud on the wings and Mertesacker at right back.I for one still stand by my word that Ramsey is a better
box to
box player than Cazorla yet peeps will deny.Which position did Ramsey play when he was at his best some seasons ago.To me he is better than him
in that role.I remember the man utd match last season yh.Also Cazorla can do anything Ozil can do and do it better including shooting.I mean what is this we are not accepting the realities of the team but we ourselves are forging our favourites into the team.Do this and you will see we will be better.I just do not
get it at allllll. Please share your views on my comment on what you think
However he really was not interested
in defending much at the beginning of the season, and I think with alexis taking a bit of time to
get into his stride and
giroud and walcott being out he took it upon himself to score which
in turn affected his defending, might even go as far as to say it's why santi is now playing
box to
box haha
In contrast, when Giroud is playing he is mostly consfricted to the wide position and just doing back and forth runninh and crossing, not being able to get involved much in open play around / inside bo

Arsenal looked to be cruising
in first gear when 1 - 0 up over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, but an unlikely turn of events saw the Gunners denied a certain penalty when Olivier
Giroud was dragged backwards
in the Sunderland
box, but just a minute later our opponents were on the counter-attack and
got given a penalty of their own when Cech made sure they couldn't score.
If we
get Bale on the right wing to complete our attack, imagine the possibilities with Özils playmaking skills, Sanchez» hard work and brilliant technique,
Girouds hold - up play and strength
in the
box with Bales speed and deadliness with the ball.
Was lack of match fitness to blame when
Giroud missed the chance from Ramsey's through ball, was match fitness to blame when he fell over
in the
box instead of taking a shot, Falcao has been injured for 6 months but if he
gets 1 chance he scores that's the sort of striker we need!!
Also
got ta give massive credit to
giroud for improving his movement
in an around the
box
«But I think Olivier
Giroud,
in the right circumstances, coming on as a sub at times when the team is struggling, when you're on the front foot and
getting crosses into the
box, he can score lots of goals for Chelsea.
He can't
get in the national team ahead off
Giroud cause off France's style off play and the talent they have on the wings to cross into the
box.
The rest of our team aren't really big enough to win headers, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't
get in the
box and try and put a loose ball into the net, usually we don't even bother putting anyone but Kosc, Mertesacker and
Giroud in the
box, even Welbeck isn't
in the
box half the time... It's a lot easier to defend against 3 people than against 5, when's the last time we defended a corner where the other team only sent 3 or 4 players forward?
Keeping
Giroud on this squad with the promise of substantial playing time... the offensive tactics of this squad is way too indirect and is much more reflective of a hold up play / cross
in the
box scheme that suits
Giroud's skill - sets but can't continue if Wenger really wants Lacazette to be successful... without Sanchez on the pitch this offence is a little bit like a headless chicken, passing sideways, providing relatively poor service to undersized players and sub-par finishing... this isn't to suggest that Arsenal can't perform without Alexis but this offensive scheme is antiquated and ill - advised, especially considering our personnel (poor man's Barca)... if Arsenal doesn't want to pay the price to
get topnotch players so we can press high and play all out attack, we would be better served by adopting a counterattack approach... unfortunately that would mean developing a far less skittish defensive group that could withstand the pressure and we all know that Wenger hasn't opted for that approach considering our defensive pickups
in recent years and the lack of a «boss»
in the midfield
Sanchez on the other hand is perfectly content with
Giroud doing a one two with him and then shooting himself, Sanchez is also someone who wants to shoot, wants to
get into the penalty
box which means the CBs won't just be focused on
Giroud which gives
Giroud more space and time and also adds the extra threat of Sanchez
in the
box.
I know he needed speed
in our counter-attack, but taking off
Giroud, we were left without a physical presence upfront, which we sorely needed against a side like Chelsea... I don't think he really considered the possibility that the few chances we would
get to
get into Chelsea's
box would've resulted from situations like corners & free - kicks, where
Giroud was needed!
At one point I thought that
Giroud was playing, with bleached hair, the way he was
getting on the end of things
in the
box, only to mess it up and poke his tongue out!?
benzema would be fine cz his track record speaks for itself at exactly a goal per two games for real madrid and he would also be an upgrade to
giroud but i don't know why but am still not convinced by him... i think we should challenge man utd for muller who has a better all round game and a very good opportunist
in the penalty
box and rarely
gets injured... the ball actually finds him most of the time if you notice and he never lets you down on one on ones... i dare wenger to sign the younger and more efficient muller and end this boring chorus of striker, striker, striker
in like the next seven yrs
