institutes, having a for - profit entity opens doors for funding, and consequently should allow more of its projects to move forward than the current setup.
As a not - for - profit
Gladstone can engage in sponsored research, create VC - backed start - ups and raise donations, said Freedman, but the
institute can not accept philanthropic funding from an organization that wants an ROI or partner with a company.
