global oceans have warmed so quickly in 2013 that the National
Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) is going to need a bigger graph.

Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and the Government of Flanders (Kingdom of Belgium) the network strives to address the challenges faced in ensuring that ocean and coastal
data and information generated in national, regional and
global programmes are readily available to a wide range of users in an easily understandable format.

The International
Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) of UNESCO's Intergovernmental
Oceanographic Commission (IOC) has set up this Ocean Summer Schools website as a service to the
global ocean science community.
We suggest that integrating this approach with detailed
oceanographic data will be a major new tool to identify the effects of natural climate variability versus anthropogenic
global warming on ecosystem biochemistry and primary production.
