The population that summer was 307,006,550... so in simple terms that would mean that the 24 % equates out to be approximately 73, 681, 572... Most agnostics and atheists were in your shoes, have studied the bible and more importantly the history behind it's composition but at some point most realized that the reason for the current focus of worship was no more valid than worshiping any other god.

I am an atheist, but I am more than willing to believe in God if you can give me any objective reason to believe one exists.

at the end of the day i'd rather have an agnostic or atheist as president than someone who believes in some fairy tale, or thinks that god tells people what to do, or that religion is necessary for morals.

If atheists don't believe in god for any reason other than personal choice, then that would raise some real serious questions...

@Alex Most atheists here have openly stated that the existence of a god or gods is logically possible, but the total lack of empirical evidence for any god, let alone the very specific gods of torah, bible, koran, etc, is more than a little suspi - cious.

by definition belief in any single God or religious systems excludes belief in others... In that sense, Christians are no better / worse than Buddhists, Muslims, Hindi's, Sikh's, ATHEISTS, etc, etc..
