Governor race results it depicts a state that has been divided, not united.

Much of the discussion centered on campaigns for the U.S. House and Senate, but state
races came up constantly as well, and for good reason: the state legislators and
governors elected in three short months will oversee the single most important political act in our system of government, the redrawing of state and congressional district lines based on the
results of the census.
But those
results contrast with a Democratic sweep in statewide
races —
governor, attorney general, comptroller and two US Senate seats.
Incumbent Andrew Cuomo won the statewide
race for
governor, but was trounced in anti-SAFE-Act Genesee County by Rob Astorino, 11,016 to 4,040, according to unofficial election
results.
The Ohio
governor standing has risen to an all - time high among voters in Ohio — a key swing state in the presidential
race, according to the latest
results from a Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this week.

As for the GOP primary, it was widely believed that Ed Cox's support of Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy's party switch and subsequent failed bid for
governor was the
result of some sort of deal with local GOP Chair John Jay LaValle in exchange for his support of Chris Cox in the NY - 1
race against Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop.
We'll stick to statewide general elections for Senate and
governor, even though there are plenty of eyebrow - raising
results in party primaries (Sen. Dick Lugar's loss in 2012), off - season special elections (Scott Brown's triumph in early 2010) and U.S. House
races (a good half - dozen of them every election year).
Local elections were held around the country last Tuesday, and while the Syracuse region did not contain the drama of the Kentucky
governor's
race or the Houston equal rights ordinance, there were nonetheless some local
results of note, and some tea leaves embedded in the details of expected outcomes.
From the passage of
Governor Brown's Proposition 30, to the monumental win in San Diego with the passage of the Proposition Z facilities bond, to wins in key
races for school boards in Oakland and Santa Clara County, to charter supporters being elected to the Assembly, the November 2012 election
results are a clear indication of the kind of impact we can have as a movement when we work together.

Governor Brewer signed into law Senate Bill 1040, legislation that brought Arizona into line with
Race to the Top requirements and
resulted in a $ 25 million grant to raise student achievement in Arizona.
