Following his second year of law school, Mr. Sandman joined Baron & Budd's Environmental Litigation
Group as a summer associate.

It's healthy to have a core
group of
summer associates who we know will be entering the firm and then hire 3Ls, post clerkships, externships or junior lateral hires
as and when we need them.
Summer associates are invited to attorney affinity
group meetings, including our attorneys of color, women, GLBT and parents
groups,
as well
as to diversity events and dinners sponsored by the firm.
The majority of a
summer associate's projects will come from their assigned practice
group, but there will be opportunities to work with attorneys in other practice areas and on pro bono projects and other matters
as opportunities arise.
As the
summer progresses, we help the
summer associates find a «home» within one of our practice
groups, and at that point we encourage them to focus on work and relationships within that particular
group.
Large enough should embody hiring from your
summer associates and growing and molding attorneys to your firm's culture instead of cobbling a
group of attorneys from other firms who can not pull together
as a team because they're too busy trying to avoid conflicts with their rolodexes.
