Gungeon.
Enter The
Gungeon has relatively simple controls
with one analogue stick doing all the aiming and the other controlling your movement, which is the standard configuration for almost every game of this genre.
In a nutshell, Enter The
Gungeon is a top down shooter, that's a firestorm of colour and sounds as you trawl room after randomised room, spraying enemies and bosses
with a range of weapons and tactics.
Enter the
Gungeon will launch
with 190 player - usable guns, ranging from pistols and rifles, to laser and beam weaponry, to much crazier weaponry as well.
Every boss is terrifying the first time you encounter them, but as
with all things, the more time you spend in the
Gungeon's depths, the more they appear as just another stepping stone to climb.
This is how I felt
with Enter the
Gungeon.
As
with most things in
Gungeon, skill is rewarded; he will return faster the farther you progress in the runs you attempt while he is gone.
We could have done this
with a menu, but the
Gungeon has two rules: everything must animate, and everything must have a face (except where those two rules don't apply).
Another game that's not strictly co-op, but Enter the
Gungeon is a lot more fun
with a friend sitting next to you.
Unfortunately, this is where my biggest problem
with Enter the
Gungeon comes in.
With the likes of Geometry Wars 3, Helldivers, Assault Android Cactus, Neon Chrome, Super Stardust Ultra, Crimsonland, Dead Nation and Enter the
Gungeon — amongst a veritable stack of others — all competing for your dollars, new titles must provide truly new ideas to get a shout, or at the very least, must provide a lot of polish and addictive gameplay.
In Enter the
Gungeon, you kill giant smiling bullets by shooting them
with explosive bananas.

Ultimately, Enter the
Gungeon is a very entertaining dungeon crawler that successfully mixes bullet hell action
with roguelite elements.
