Points stashed in a loyalty program, in this case Hilton
HHonors, are not affected by card cancellations but free
nights tied to your card must be used within the first year while the account is active.
If you didn't already have those cards, signing up for them all now would get you 240,000 total
HHonors points in sign - up bonuses — 60,000 for the premium Hilton
HHonors Surpass American Express, 40,000 for the standard Hilton

Since I value
HHonors points at about.4 cents each, this was about $ 53 in
points to guarantee the upgrade for two
nights, which I found very reasonable, given how much value I got out of the Executive Lounge.
Here's a real - life example of decision making using this chart: I'm planning a 2 -
night stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice this January, when the cheapest standard room award is 50,000

night awards is a good next - best alternative (unless you're booking 5 consecutive

nights then this may work for you but, otherwise, you could end up spending more money than you save.

HHonors point itself, has a lot of value, they can be used for free room
nights.
Currently, you can search Hilton's website for Award Redemption Bookings at the Grand Wailea and you will find that the lowest available is 80,000

night throughout 2013.
As part of their opening celebrations, they are offering 1,000
HHonors bonus

night, up to a maximum of 5,000

You can purchase the 80,000 for the
night for $ 400 in this promotion and, although you won't be earning
points on your stay, you'll save $ 59 — a pretty good deal if you have to be in NYC that weekend and don't much care about earning more
