recipe a few years back), I pitted them all by
hand without the benefit of a cherry pitter.
I've seen a
recipe that calls for cooking the cherry filling in a saucepan before folding them into
hand pie crusts.
I strongly encourage you to get your
hands on some apples and try one or both

pie season, after all!

Elana, I used this
recipe with a pumpkin
pie that I make.I used a blend of red palm and coconut shortening that I had on
hand.
I have used this
recipe many times (but with a store - bought crust and a couple of times without the mace as I didn't have any on
hand and it turned out fine... I may have used a little ginger and / or nutmeg instead or not) and it is every bit as good as I remember my east Texan grandmother's sweet potato
pies.
This is
hands - down my favorite
pie recipe, and I love that it's egg - free and soy - free.
