However, as I've learned from
the Henley Boy situation, the best way to get over a bad dating situation, is to keep dating.
Back during
the Henley Boy days I remember him getting a text during dinner, and reading it out to me, together with his response, as if to underline he wasn't texting another girl.
Unfortunately real life doesn't quite work like that, and whilst I am gladThe
Henley Boy had the balls to get back in touch with me earlier this month, and I at least partially understand why he «ran for the hills», to coin his phrase, that doesn't mean the
Henley Boy has found his way back into my affections.
Because Mr SC had read all about
Henley Boy before he ever even asked me out!
And not wanting to compare the silly
Henley Boy situation to an actual proper break - up, but I know that any girl will tell you, when you get your heart broken, or bruised, or even just a little bit trampled on, ALL you really want, is to start feeling like yourself again!
Very rarely does a guy have «
The Henley Boy» effect on you — where you fancy them at first sight.
In fact, on my first date with
Henley Boy (even though we chatted every day for a week before meeting up) he admitted to not having properly read my profile, and just looking at the pictures!
Doubting
Henley Boy's motives, I choose The Enigma, only to discover he only took me on the best blind date of my life as a bet, and was never interested in anything other than a sparking online review.
Cue the return of
Henley Boy, complete with heart - melting reason for two months of silence.
Does true love come with a «
Henley Boy Effect», where from the first moment you get chatting you just connect, and you can remember the first time you saw him, like a freeze - frame in your head?

Henley Boy was the second ever guy from a dating website I gave my phone number to.
But what other lessons can I learn from
the Henley Boy?
I started with
the Henley Boy, explained my Challenge, and went briefly through some of the highs and lows.
Runner Up — Getting an hour and a half long apology from
Henley Boy... even if in hindsight it probably was all rubbish!
Do I just need to find another guy who has the «
Henley Boy effect» over me, and makes me weak at the knees from the moment we first meet?
And whilst there are times when I've hoped things would happen on the blog for dramatic effect — the Return of
Henley Boy for example....
Despite going on only a couple of dates with the so - called «
Henley Boy», Charly Lester was «devastated» when he «disappeared without a trace».
So if this Challenge were a Hollywood script, then I would have been ditched by
Henley Boy at the start, embarked on my crazy 30 Dates challenge, only to fall for the Enigma early on....
But after my experiences with
Henley Boy, I try not to invest too much of my time or excitement in the pre-date build - up.
(and no, before you are ask, there are none of
Henley Boy!
But then I read the story about
Henley Boy and I feel just rotten for you.
To some degree, I'd found him in
Henley Boy, and look how well that had turned out!
Friends have got in contact to join me at singles nights, offer
their Henley Boy conspiracy ideas, provide date suggestions, ask for dating tips, or just give me feedback on the blog.
The Return of
The Henley Boy (Part One) has also been nominated for Best Dating Post.
He explained that my sister's friend had simply told him I'd had a «bad experience internet dating» (a.k.a
Henley Boy!)
I'm an intellectual snob, and also a complete sucker for a posh voice (in case you hadn't guessed that from my «perfect date» with
Henley Boy!)
Henley Boy quite literally changed my entire year.

As I sit here in the very same polkadot dress, my world is completely different to that which
Henley Boy walked both into and out of.
My date with the Challenge was a good one — we got on well, he was easy to chat to, and he was the first guy I'd remotely fancied since
Henley Boy.
It's interesting how different guys I've dated have asked me different things about
The Henley Boy — the very reason I began this crazy dating challenge.
From a bloke's point of view it's interesting seeing into the mind of the opposite sex, I would say that what has bugged me with
your Henley Boy experience is this lack of closure.
I kept thinking about your experience with
Henley Boy and I suddenly realised it seemed to confirm a theory that I have been feeling for a while now.
If they did, then I probably wouldn't have ended up getting hurt by either
Henley Boy or the Enigma situation!
With this in mind, I tried not to get too excited, as
Henley Boy began messaging me.
The Challenge began thanks to
The Henley Boy — a man whose actions at the time appeared to be a mystery, and who is now rather infamous!
Though I'm not sure what kind of reception a fake
Henley Boy would have received!
On our way back to the car, during one conversation he put his arm around my shoulders, which as a girl (who probably is worse at reading signs than she thinks, given
the Henley Boy history!)
Not the same kind of third dates I'd looked forward to with
Henley Boy or Enigma — third dates which would have come with potential developments.

Regular blog readers will recognise the infamous spotty dress which I wore on my first ever date with
Henley Boy (and anyone with a sense of humour will appreciate the irony of my pale «English rose» legs, next to an red English rose!)
I'm wearing the same polkadot dress which I wore twelve months ago on my ill - fated date with
the Henley Boy.
And possibly where I can begin to at least partly appreciate the way
Henley Boy acted during our three or so weeks of contact.
She would have told me not to answer the phone to
Henley Boy.
Henley Boy and I scheduled in a second date, and then spent the next week getting to know one another further.
And one of the reasons I fell so quickly for
the Henley Boy in the first place was the fact that he managed to make a simple drink in a pub seem so fun.
