white, the lived dimensions of this family home.

brick walls; cliche hipster bars, small boutiques, a shop that only sells chocolate, a weekly flower market, juice places, parks, the bike shed, design hotels such as the Ace Hotel and Shoreditch House, fantastic restaurants, tiny cafes, record stores, even the canal is just a quick walk away.
Many of the «sculptures» included often operated with or within more - two dimensional components — I am thinking
here of Jon Kessler's Exodus (2016) and Evolution (2017), configurations far more about the transmutation of object into digital image than it is about the materiality of things; Rafa Esparaza's Figure Ground: Beyond the
White Field (2017), a weighty and timely installation on labor, colonialization and identity read through adobe
bricks; or Raúl de Nieves» beginning & the end neither & the otherwise betwixt & between the end is the beginning & the end (2016), an installation of five ornate, grotesque, and vibrantly hued sculptures set against a backdrop of eighteen colorful acetate sheets made to resemble stained glass windows.
Besides the new wall that was installed (more to come on that), we've painted the swine - colored walls and fireplace (Simply
White Benjamin Moore), added some trim around the fireplace (to fill in big gaps between the
brick and the drywall), removed the pink blinds (still thinking about what blinds we'd want down
here) and installed the new Mohawk flooring.
This fall we had our
brick house painted
white and while the painters were
here, we asked them to give a fresh
white coat of paint to the formerly beige backyard shed, too.

I do like the look of exposed
brick walls with bits of
white plaster remnants so I was thinking that I could go for that kind of look by adding
white paint
here and there in sort of a mottled way.
So, my 1970's house that was built by a family who transferred
here from Southern California is REALLY different with it's stucco and

From the
white picket fence and garden arbour to the worn
brick walkway and grey - painted exterior, the message
here is clear: This isn't Old MacDonald's farm.
