The overuse of drugs, especially when it is coupled with the
consumption of a western diet (low in fruits and vegetables and
high in sugar, salt, refined grains,
alcohol and ultra-processed foods that combine sugar, fat, flour, salt and various additives, especially emulsifiers), can change the delicate and complex balance of our gut's ecosystem,
leading to intestinal dysbiosis and increased intestinal permeability, both of which are believed to play an important role in the development and exacerbation of various chronic degenerative diseases.
I also remember reading that
alcohol consumption leads to
higher estrogen levels and lower testosterone — which
leads to less risk of prostate cancer.
