When Google did finally add support for
tablets with the launch of Android 3.0
Honeycomb, the operating system was slapped together so quickly and sloppily that Google decided not to
release the source code until after Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was available.

In the meantime, Dell should be readying the
release of its 10 inch
Honeycomb tablet in the US.
The Korea Times is reporting that LG initially was going to
release a new
tablet this year, but decided to wait on the more
tablet friendly operating system,
Honeycomb.

released a little early but I don't mind waiting for some updates and in my mind it has no competition - there is no other official
Honeycomb tablets and I don't think iOS is worthy of running a smartphone let alone a

LG opted out with a very few other
tablet manufacturers to await the
release of the more
tablet specific version of Android, aka
Honeycomb.
Motorola's XOOM
tablet device was the launchpad for Android
Honeycomb, and now that we are on the verge of Google
releasing the latest version of Android, rumor mills are back to proclaim the XOOM might have the privilege to be the first
tablet device with Ice Cream Sandwich.
Also, the company has kept a line of budget devices hitting the market by sticking to Android 2.2 Froyo while most other
Tablet PC makers have been
releasing tablets that come with dual core processors having high resolution displays and running on the Android 3.x
Honeycomb OS.
While LG is patiently awaiting the
release of the
tablet specific version of the Android operating system codenamed
Honeycomb, it has, in the meanwhile gone ahead with its Windows 7 based
tablet plans.
It's not just the Huawei MediaPad or the Acer Iconia Tab A100 that were the first to
release a 7 inch

Honeycomb updates on an official basis.
The failure of XOOM has been large enough to be a black eye against Google's
Honeycomb release of Android, leaving other
tablet manufacturers and Motorola alike struggling to compete effectively.
It's still a lot of time lost, and I blame both Google for
releasing Honeycomb unfinished and the SDK just one day before Xoom launched (compared to Apple which
released it 2 months before iPad launch), and also the manufacturers for wanting to set a new «standard pricing» for
tablets of around $ 600 - & 800.
Toshiba has stated that they are going to have
Honeycomb tablets priced at three different target markets upon
release.
LG will
release its Android 3.0
Honeycomb - based 9in
tablet next month.
Toshiba said the
tablet will be available in the «first half» of 2011; it seems as if Toshiba is waiting to
release the
tablet in order to ensure it ships with
Honeycomb installed.
Following the Xoom's
release were a number of other
Honeycomb - powered
tablets, none of which were able to dominate the android segment, let alone challenge the iPad.
