A new government
report on the science of
climate change has made it past the Trump White
House unscathed with forceful statements about humanity's role in rising temperatures and their severe threat to the United States.
These factors — many of which are beyond our control and the effects of which can be difficult to predict — include: credit, market, liquidity and funding, insurance, operational, regulatory compliance, strategic, reputation, legal and regulatory environment, competitive and systemic risks and other risks discussed in the risk sections of our 2017 Annual
Report; including global uncertainty and volatility, elevated Canadian
housing prices and household indebtedness, information technology and cyber risk, regulatory
change, technological innovation and new entrants, global environmental policy and
climate change,
changes in consumer behavior, the end of quantitative easing, the business and economic conditions in the geographic regions in which we operate, the effects of
changes in government fiscal, monetary and other policies, tax risk and transparency and environmental and social risk.
Resources and planning documents include technical
reports on food systems planning,
climate change action, and a planning resource for coordinating
housing investments across the region.
It says monitoring and
reporting of
climate data should be undertaken in more detail, recommending a European clearing
house on
climate change impacts.
At the Wednesday meeting, Steyer will also sit down with former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulsen and former
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros to confer on a forthcoming
report assessing the economic effects of
climate change.

In 2003 the White
House instructed the Environmental Protection Agency to delete from its annual
Report on the Environment any reference to a study showing that human activity contributes significantly to
climate change, and also to delete temperature data showing a worsening warming trend.

The only Trump administration engagement on
climate change came at the start of the week, when White
House National Economic Council chief Gary Cohn hosted counterparts for a Monday morning breakfast to reiterate that the United States would exit Paris and to squash
reports that it might be searching for a way back in.

report released today in Washington, D.C., during the Fire Chiefs White

Climate Change Impacts at the Wildland Urban Interface.
The Wall Street Journal editorial page has for years railed against these scientific findings on
climate change, even as the global consensus has reached nearly 100 percent of the scientific community, including the
reports commissioned by the skeptical Bush White
House.
