education directorate, which
funds STEM
education research activities and fellowships, would be flat -
funded under the
House CJS
bill.
On a 209 - 206 vote, the
House passed a
bill March 6 that would provide almost $ 21.2 billion in discretionary
education funding, $ 3.3 billion less than in fiscal 1995.

The absence of proposed amendments will almost surely mean that changes in the law, P.L. 94 - 142, the
Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975, will not be included in
House and Senate
bills authorizing
funds for the programs
funded under the law next year, according to Congressional staff aides.

School board members and Coloradans alike want to see students reach their full potential, and

While the two massive victories mean a great deal to the
education justice community who've been demanding the legislature fully
fund public schools, the state

bill will now have to be passed in the
House where it faces a serious uphill battle.

bills that would create Michigan's first statewide teacher evaluation system, putting concerns to rest — for the moment — that Michigan could lose $ 1 billion in federal

Charter school advocates and operators hosted a conference calls with reporters this afternoon to outline their objections to two identical
bills in the Pennsylvania
House and Senate that would overhaul the state's special
education funding.

With both the
House and Senate having passed their respective
education bills, NSBA remains steadfast in working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to pass a final
bill that restores community ownership to local school boards, maximizes federal
funding for Title I, and excludes private vouchers, tuition tax credits, or existing voucher programs.
