IHG stays generally cost between 10,000 and 50,000 points per night, but special deals with hotels listed on their PointBreaks list will get you a night's stay at an IHG hotel for only 5,000 points.

For example, IHG runs a PointBreaks promo allowing you to book their hotels for only 5,000 points a night.

So folks with the card will effectively pay 4,500 IHG points per night for a PointBreaks hotel (5,000 IHG points — 500 point rebate).

Note: Each IHG member may only book 2 PointBreaks reservations per hotel for the duration of the promotion.

If you'd otherwise pay for an IHG stay anyway, it's worth doing the math to see if buying points with this method and booking an award night (not just PointBreaks) is a better deal than paying cash for the room.

These PointBreaks hotels were already a terrific bargain, because by using the Points & Cash trick you could effectively get a PointBreaks night for $ 35 (5,000 IHG points x 0.7 cents per point).

Personally, I prefer Hyatt because I have status with them, but IHG has some good deals, like their Holiday Inn Express chains, and their 5,000 points per night PointBreaks deals.
