For comparison I have tried out the Acer
Iconia which is nearly the same weight and dimensions as the Thrive, the Samusng Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Asus Transformer.
Acer has just released
their Iconia which so far looks like a clone of the ipad and the same price — from Harvey Norman, Dick Smiths, JB Hifi et al..
Not exact matches
The
Iconia came with Microsoft Office Starter Edition,
which is good.
The
Iconia B1 is, like its Acer family products, a device
which provides the most premium experience at its price point.
To begin with, the
Iconia Tab A110 comes with Jelly Bean right out of the box, placing it one up against the Kindle Fire
which continues to be in the Android 4.0 ICS.
Acer has already launched the Acer
Iconia B1, the two versions of
which will be priced at $ 150 and $ 179.
I have challenged this concept before, but deploying the
Iconia Tab to my work space will be the furthest extent to
which I have pushed this concept.
Devices like the Acer
Iconia A500 and Eee Pad Transformer already have HDMI - out and full sized USB ports with compatibility for a huge range of USB devices
which makes them far more flexible in an enterprise scenario (something you absolutely need in that environment!)
Still, the 0.8 - pound Springboard is lighter than the EVO View 4G and the
Iconia Tab,
which both weigh 0.9 pounds.
The
Iconia Tab A100 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 —

I got the Acer 7 ″
Iconia A100 when I returned the Kobo Vox and I'm glad I did its awesome,
which is more than I can say for the Kobo Vox.
I've returned it and bought an
iconia A100, with
which I do nt have any problem whatsoever AND I get to use the Kindle and Kobo Apps with a real android tablet.
The
Iconia A100 only had 1 physical button on the unit
which was a Home button, there was no back or settings button at all.
After returning the Vox I went with an Acer
Iconia A100,
which I also ended up returning, mostly due to the terrible screen, the viewing angle in my most used position was terrible.
The Acer
Iconia A100, is very pocket friendly
which makes it as an e-reader a viable alternative to the other budget ones on the market.
ASUS just took the wraps off an all new Transformer Prime (the TF700T) here at CES,
which is presumably designed to rival Acer's newly - announced
Iconia Tab A700.»
Looks wise, the
Iconia Tab A200 is a lot like the A500 except two key differences — the OS of the Tab A200
which would be Android 4.0 along with the red and gray color schemes that the tablet comes in.
Both the tablets form part of the
Iconia model line - up and run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean instead of the latest Android KitKat,
which might be a small price to pay considering both are priced well within the affordable range.
Also, apart from the tablet's price, one of the biggest pluses with the
Iconia Tab A200 is the promised upgrade to Android 4.0,
which the company has said will be made available OTA sometime in February.
The
Iconia Tab A200 also comes with a free upgrade to Android 4.0 (known as Ice Cream Sandwich),
which will be available in mid-February.
