Import volumes continue to grow rapidly, with broad - based increases underpinned by robust growth in domestic spending and falling import prices (refer Graph 46).
While growth in
import volumes continued to outpace that of exports in the December quarter, the effect on the trade balance was again cushioned by a rise in the terms of trade, leaving the trade deficit broadly unchanged at 3.2 per cent of GDP (Graph 36).

volume sales (12.5 percent).
Industrial
continues to do well, particularly in transportation hubs where sophisticated logistical facilities are needed to handle growing
import volumes.
