What Ionic doesn't do is fundamentally change the definition of what a Fitbit device is and can be.
For example, the watch lists weightlifting as one of the activities it can track, but as with past Fitbit trackers,
all Ionic does while the user does weight training is track calorie burn and heart rate.
Additionally, unlike the Apple Watch Series 3, the Ionic doesn't feature LTE connectivity.
The watch also looks better on the wrist than the Fitbit
Ionic does.
But
Ionic does offer value to those demanding specialization much in the same way Paperwhite offers a better experience to readers than the cheaper and more utilitarian Fire.
Although the Versa has most of the same features that
the Ionic does, one thing you won't find is built - in GPS.
As expected, both the Gear Sport and Fitbit
Ionic do a great job at counting your steps, calories burned, and recording a variety of different exercises (including swimming thanks to 5 ATM waterproofing on each one).
