When I'm in these places, I
eat six
meals a day: braised beef tortas, chongqing chicken,
Italian combos.
More recently I was asked to a wonderful evening by Ciao Gusto where all of my favourite
Italian brands were displayed and used for the
meal we were invited to
eat.
(This fits into the
Italian meal structure — toss the salad before you sit down —
eat the «primo», the first course — then the salad is
eaten with the «secondo», the second course, and it has sat just the right amount of time.)
Italians eat lots of carbs, include wheat in almost every
meal, drink espresso, consume smoked meat and
eat lots of fat.
We've
eaten loads of great
meals in the region and that's one of the reasons why it's one of our favorite places for
Italian culinary tourism.
If you're feeling hungry after all this exertion you can grab a bite to
eat at the poolside snack bar or if you want a proper
meal head to the buffet restaurant which has frequent theme nights (Asian, Mexican, Canarian and
Italian).
The best
meal I've ever
eaten in Venice was...... At Osteria La Zucca near San Stae, it's off the beaten track and has little tourist attention, but they offer simple honest food, especially the pumpkin flan and have a well chosen cellar of
Italian wines.
