The
rice balls made me think about arancini, the
Italian version of a
rice ball using risotto
rice and sometimes they are stuffed with cheese, breaded, and then fried.
This dish is basically the love child of the classic
Italian stuffed
rice balls, Arancini and the sweet Hungarian quark
balls, Túrógombóc.
I hadn't either until I married my husband (of
Italian decent) and saw his family making these little
rice balls on Christmas (they actually do it backwards and serve pasta on Christmas Eve and seafood on Christmas, but I digress).

Italian favourites here, but also local specialities like arancini (stuffed
rice balls) or cannoli (pastry tubes filled with chocolate or mascarpone.
