JRPG out there in the vast 3DS library, The Alliance Alive comes in the twilight of the portable system, and it offers 40 - plus solid hours of adventuring for the ones who were left wanting more
from The Legend of Legacy.
Apart
from small minor issues, the game itself is a
JRPG masterpiece: The graphics and music compliment the style of the game beautifully, the story is the best in the series, the locations and palaces you visit are astounding and the battle system has been revitalized and feels fresh and new.
The story and characters take a risky turn
from the norm of the Tales series and features a cold but understandable anti-heroine bent on revenge which as a
JRPG gamer barely see in games nowadays.
It's a nice, classic
JRPG, with more dynamic combat mechanics and things to do, however it abuses cliches of the genre, and its visuals and sound effects aren't really
from this generation.
The only thing stopping it
from being a 10 is the somewhat niche market that
JRPGs fall into in the west.
