Jeremy i agree with what you have written many of the traditions in the church have come from pagan beliefs.I thought some of the comments were judgemental of others especially towards those who are pagan.There response was respectful we can learn alot about having a good attitude towards others and responding to others kindly.I think using

Your actions DO at times speak louder
than words and

Janet i think what you have said is quite insightful and you are right and there is another meaning to Go and sin no more and that speaks to me of repentence making a decision to Follow Christ the one who saves.The words Go and sin no more is referring to a continual ongoinging process of living for Christ rather
than dying in our sins daily there is no comparison.I thought that was awesome pointing the law back to all of us for we all have sinned and the judgement is death but

Scripture verses or a few ideas about God; it is a way of being in the world and living our everyday lives.
Who better to «interpret
scripture»
than Jesus?
Actually, if one were to study Jewish culture, religion,
scripture, you would find that the Jewish understanding of the word «messiah» is radically different
than the Christian one, and it could be argued that if
Jesus had actually BEEN the Jewish messiah, the Jews would still be Jews.
As to the texts,
Jesus was a Jew and he had a better understanding of the
scriptures than the religious leaders of his time.
I find all of them to be less inspiring
than the stories about
Jesus and the truths contained in
Scripture, even if these things are lies.
Regrettably, other
than the few brief comments in Luke 4:20 - 27, not a single one of these synagogue
