Not only is the consistency quite different (much more viscous / oily, similar to an almond butter), natural peanut butter has only a fraction of the amount of salt as does, say, Jiff.

Can you substitute almond butter for Jiff's peanut butter or would you advise against that?

Not a surprise since most people who consume peanut butter buy Jiff or Skippy which has HFCS and trans - fat blended in to reduce cost.
