charged on a 1/2 day basis and can vary significantly depending upon factors such as: venue, size of the
jury pool, the number of mock trials required, and the type of research facility and technology to be utilized.
A common rule is that a judge must instruct a
jury regarding any lesser offense that's necessarily a part of the
charged offense if there's significant evidence that the defendant committed only the lesser crime.
There is already an (unanswered) question on the site
regarding this in US law, but I'm asking about UK law, so I felt it appropriate to ask again: Can a

This approach to
jury charges is consistent with the Court's statements in R v Lifchus, [1997] 3 SCR 320,
regarding jury charges in general.
