I personally found that something with velcro that held well worked better than
just a swaddle blanket.

There are a lot of different types of zipper bags and stretchy material, things that you can kind of put them in and I
just like the square
blanket because in it... the square
swaddle, they are so universal, you can lay them down, can use it for a changing mat and you can use them for breastfeeding, as a cover - up or for spit up or for keeping them warm in a stroller and then also for

With my first, I used the

Another amazing miracle
swaddling blanket (DD + 2 wks)-- never happened, we
just wash our one all the darn time.
My husband would
just take the
swaddle blanket that the baby had been in for a day and a half or so, home, so the dog could sleep with it and get the smell of the baby before we came home from the hospital.
We were disappointed in traditional receiving
blankets... they
just weren't quite big enough for «real»
swaddling.
For our oldest we had the Aden + Anais muslin
swaddles but instead of
swaddling her she
just liked to use them as a
blanket while we rocked her.
I suggest a couple pre-wrapped
swaddles in different sizes (they have a little leg pocket and you
just velcro the arms around) and a couple
blankets you
swaddle yourself (like origami).
