Karma Automotive, a Chinese - owned firm previously known as Fisker Automotive, has introduced a gasoline - electric sedan named Revero.
After leaving his namesake Fisker Automotive (which has since been resurrected as
Karma Automotive), the car designer who helped shaped cars like the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9 started a second company to build another flashy luxury car, the Fisker EMotion.
Other startup car companies like Elio, Faraday Future, Google,
Karma Automotive, and Apple are likely to take a similar approach.
Henrik Fisker is getting back into the electric car game with a new design seemingly aimed at both Tesla Motors and his old company, which has been reconstituted as
Karma Automotive.
Meanwhile,
Karma Automotive continues to work to get the original Fisker Karma back into production as the Revero.
It will also have a subsidiary focused on batteries, named Fisker Nanotech, and will have no affiliation with
Karma Automotive.
Some assets of the failed company were acquired by China - based Wanxiang Group, which renamed the firm into
Karma Automotive.
But
Karma Automotive is taking things in a different direction.
The Fisker Karma went through hell and is now back again, this time spun off separate of its designer's company as its own thing called
Karma Automotive.
Chinese company Wanxiang bought Fisker Automotive, which became
Karma Automotive somewhere along the line, and the owner decided to reintroduce the Karma as the first step in rebuilding the company.
The car also got updates to its infotainment system, and
Karma Automotive addressed its highly skewed claim about a solar roof powering the car — contrary to the common understanding that the solar roof could bring a decent amount of power to the car, it can really only «generate up to 1.5 miles of electric range per day, depending on weather conditions.»
Reincarnated
Karma Automotive, from the fiery ashes of Fisker Automotive, knows that if Plan A doesn't work, you resort to Plan B. Which is why this time around, instead of just selling its cars through franchised dealers like it has done previously, it will also introduce a direct sales model like Tesla has done.
